The Faculty of Linguistics, Cultures and Arts at the Goethe University Frankfurt invites applications for the following position:
Professorship (W2, tenure track) in Korean Studies with the Focus on Culture/Society of Korea
The position is initially limited to five years, can be tenured after evaluation and is to be appointed as soon as possible.
He/She will contribute to the main focus on Korean Studies within the BA program in Empirical Linguistics as well as to the new interdisciplinary MA/PhD program in Modern East Asian Studies. Furthermore, a willingness to assume responsibility for the conceptual design and implementation of new courses in Korean Studies is expected.
We expect a candidate with sound expertise in modern Korean Studies who already has ample methodological experience. His/Her excellence is proven by a distinguished doctoral thesis and by further publications equivalent to the German “habilitation”. The candidate is expected to be fluent in Korean and English language – proficiency in German language is welcome. He/She will have excellent teaching skills as well as the willingness to engage in cooperation research activities within the Interdisciplinary Center of East Asian Studies (IZO) at Goethe University. Experience in acquiring external funding for teaching and research is welcome.
The designated salary for the position is based on “W2” of the German university scale or equivalent.
