The School of Historical, Philosophical, and Religious Studies (SHPRS) at Arizona State University seeks a full-time, non-tenure track Clinical Professor, at the assistant, associate, or full professor rank, to develop and administer an online Master’s Program in History. Rank will be commensurate with experience. This is a fixed-term, fiscal year appointment with no tenure implications. Subsequent annual renewal is possible contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of resources, and the needs of the university. Anticipated start date is July 1, 2014
The online Master’s will mirror the onground program offered by the SHPRS and will provide students the opportunity to develop knowledge of a specific historical field, study comparative history, and learn research techniques. Courses will be offered in an intensive 7.5 week online format. The successful candidate will be expected to direct and manage the online master’ which includes developing and teaching master's courses in the History MA curriculum; providing programmatic leadership in the design and administration of the online master’s program; advising and mentoring master’s students; overseeing admission processes; developing and maintaining processes and publications related to the master’s program (e.g. graduate handbook); and working with history graduate faculty to ensure the success of the program and its students.
The School of Historical, Philosophical and Religious Studies is the largest humanities-based trans-disciplinary research and teaching school at ASU. Minimum Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in History
- Experience in administrative positions in higher education
- Evidence of successful online instructional experience at the university level
- Capability to provide academic and career advisement to graduate students and professionals
Desired Qualifications:
- Familiarity with online education at Arizona State University
- Demonstrated experience with program and curriculum development, design, analysis, and assessment
- Evidence of research
- Experience with budget planning and oversight
