The Allen and Joan Bildner Center for the Study of Jewish Life at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, invites applications for a one-semester visiting scholar position during the 2014-15 academic year. A Ph.D. is required at time of application; academic rank and field of expertise are open.
The visiting scholar will receive a stipend of $25,000, an office, and a computer on the Rutgers New Brunswick campus, as well as access to the University’s library system. The scholar will be able to devote time to research and writing and will be asked to participate in the Bildner Center’s educational programs, which may including a public lecture or a faculty seminar, informal meetings with students, and teachers’ workshops. Visiting scholars will have the option to teach a course for additional funds, pending the needs of the Department of Jewish Studies.

Applications should include curriculum vitae, a research statement, a short writing sample, short descriptions of lecture topics and possible courses for instruction, and a list of three references (letters will be requested by the Bildner Center).
