California State University, Sacramento, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the level of assistant professors to begin fall 2014 in European medieval and early modern culture. The ideal candidate will be able to traverse disciplinary boundaries and connect cultural aspects, including literature, the visual arts, music, drama, religions, philosophy, and the writing and interpretation of history. Preference will be given to candidates with geographic and cross-cultural breadth, and with competence in one or more of the following areas: Jewish culture; cultures of Africa and/or the Americas; and cultural effects of European colonialism. Applicants must have a doctorate in hand at the time of appointment.
