The Department of History, Philosophy, and Social Sciences at Pittsburg State University invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor position in European and World History beginning August 11, 2014. Area of specialization is open but preference will be given to applicants with a field in early modern or modern English/British history. A strong commitment to undergraduate education is essential, and the ability or willingness to teach courses online is desirable. A field in Classical (Greek/Roman) history is desirable but not required; responsibilities will include one or both halves of the World History survey, upper division courses in areas of specialization, and participation in the department's History MA program. The normal teaching load is four classes (12 hours) a semester. Salary is from a base of $43,200. Ph.D. in hand, evidence of teaching effectiveness and three letters of recommendation required.
