The Department of History and Politics invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor of History with an expertise in historical perspectives on the peoples, cultures, geographies and material cultures of the Middle East and/or Africa, to begin Fall 2014.
The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching at the lower- and upper-levels, in a liberal arts setting. Candidates must possess a demonstrated history of excellence in teaching and advising, as well as scholarship. She/he will be expected to contribute to the College’s integrated core curriculum, as well as through service to the campus and local communities.
While we prefer candidates with a specific geographic focus in the Middle East or Northern Africa, an understanding of the ability to teach later and contemporary developments within Islamic societies, particularly with a special focus on diasporic or transnational contexts is also desired.
This position is pending budgetary approval. Minimum qualification: PhD.
