American Studies Professor (W2)
Appointment as soon as possible.
This new position of American Studies will have a focus on cultural history. The appointed professor will cover the field of American Studies in both research and teaching, with a focus on political science and/or history. He/she has research interests in the area of Transnational Studies (e.g. Asia Pacific Studies, Atlantic History, Indigenous Studies). We expect the new professor to actively participate in the research centers on the humanities and social sciences at the University of Mainz. He/she is internationally connected and will participate in supervising existing exchange programs with North American universities. He/she will assist to develop and advance existing BA/MA programs and to represent Mainz American Studies in professional societies.
For the appointment the general and public service requirements as well as the conditions of employment pertain (see § 49 of the Hochschulgesetz Rheinland-Pfalz).
Candidates submit documents of PhD and research excellence as well as teaching experience.
