The Department of History at the University of Texas at San Antonio is pleased to invite applications for the Gilbert M. Denman Endowed Professorship in American History. The successful candidate will be appointed at the rank of tenured Associate or tenured full Professor. Advanced Associate Professors who are uniquely qualified may be considered for full Professor at the time of hire. Area of specialization is open but preference will be given to historians who specialize in any historical era prior to 1900. UTSA’s History Department focuses on historical themes of “Empires, States, and Borders,” as described on our web page at http://colfa.utsa.edu/history/. We are particularly interested in scholars whose research and teaching intersect with these thematic areas.
Responsibilities: Teaching and research responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate courses in your area of expertise. Additional responsibilities include training and mentoring of graduate students, program development, and providing research leadership in the Department. The position includes a research stipend that can be used to further your research interests and program development in your areas of study.
Required qualifications: A Ph.D. in History and a record of distinguished achievement in research and publication, effective teaching, and demonstrated leadership at the department and professional levels. Tenure is contingent upon Board of Regents approval.
