The American Studies Program at the College of William and Mary seeks applications for an Associate Professor in New Media Ecologies—Critical Theory and Politics, beginning August 10, 2014. This position is a joint appointment in the American Studies Program and an appropriate department to be determined upon review of the applicants. Preferred candidates include senior-level scholars and teachers with an established record of excellence in contemporary digital media engaging American Studies in transnational contexts. Other desired areas of interest and specialization: digital activism; ecomedia; posthumanism; speculative realism (including object-oriented ontology, actor-network theory, distributive agency, and related critical perspectives); critical race studies; political economy; gender and sexuality studies; and/or postcolonial studies. Candidates must be prepared to teach and mentor graduate and undergraduate students in American Studies, and to teach introductory courses in American Studies on both levels. Ph.D. in hand, record of publications, and evidence of excellent teaching required.
