Princeton University invites applications for a tenured, or tenure-track position in the history of the Jewish and/or Christian populations of the pre-modern Muslim world to begin September 1, 2014. The position will be based in the Department of Near Eastern Studies. The ability to teach courses on the wider history of the pre-modern Muslim world alongside those with a specific focus on non-Muslims is desirable. Evidence of scholarly promise and dedication to service activities, the versatility to offer courses beyond the field of specialization and, above all a commitment to effective undergraduate and graduate teaching will be taken into serious consideration. Applicants with specializations in any period between 800 and 1800 will be considered.
