The History Department of Reed College seeks a historian of Latin America (specialization open) for a one-year visiting appointment in History and Humanities. In addition to designing and offering courses in Latin American history with a stress on critical historical reading and writing, the appointee will teach in Humanities 110, a team-taught, year-long interdisciplinary course in ancient humanities for first year students (http://academic.reed.edu/humanities/hum110/). Teaching duties also include advising year-long senior theses. Applicants should have the Ph.D. in hand or near completion by June, 2014. We expect to make the appointment at the assistant professor level, but are willing to consider applications from more senior candidates.
