Assistant Professor, Early Modernist

Early Modern Period. The Department of English at the University of Alaska Anchorage invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in the Early Modern period. The position will begin in August 2014. The successful candidate will teach Early Modern courses (Shakespeare, Renaissance literature, and drama), general-education courses, and graduate courses in the area(s) of specialization. Fields of specialization within the early-modern period are open. The department is particularly interested in candidates with a secondary expertise in one of the following: post colonialism or ecocriticism as well as a familiarity with networked technologies. Candidates must demonstrate potential for success in teaching, research, service (to department, university, and community) and a strong commitment to equity and diversity of the campus community and to promoting an environment that increases student knowledge about local, national, and global communities. College-level teaching experience required. Ph.D. in English required by 5/31/2014.
