Position: The Department of History at Indiana University of Pennsylvania invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Public History at the Assistant Professor rank beginning August 2014. Teaching responsibilities will include graduate and upper-division courses in area of specialization as well as other undergraduate history courses, including a history survey course for non-majors. The successful applicant will participate in the continued growth of the department’s public history program and work collaboratively with university and community partners. The position involves a twelve-hour teaching load with two or three preparations per semester. The Department of History seeks candidates whose research, teaching, or service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and inclusion in higher education.
Qualifications: Ph.D. in history or related field and relevant experience in a public history setting required, with preference for U.S. history and digital history and/or historic preservation. Other area of interest in U.S. history is open. ABDs will be considered, but the Ph.D. must be in hand at the time of employment. Candidates must communicate effectively and perform well during the interview(s), which may include a teaching demonstration. Only complete applications will be considered.
