Reed College seeks applications for a tenure-track position in Religion and Humanities at the Assistant Professor level for the 2014-15 academic year, to commence in the fall of 2014.
We seek outstanding candidates who specialize in non-Abrahamic religions of the Indian subcontinent. Candidates who work on the intersection of race/ethnicity and religion, colonialism/nationalism and religion, and/or gender and religion are particularly encouraged to apply. Experience teaching and advising student research projects on a wide range of topics in religious studies is highly desirable.
Reed College is a selective liberal arts institution with a commitment to high standards of scholarship and teaching excellence in a seminar setting. The successful candidate will teach both introductory and advanced courses in his/her area of specialization annually. On a rotating basis, he or she will also teach theoretical and methodological courses in the study of religion as well as in the interdisciplinary, team-taught Humanities 110 course for freshmen that focuses on the ancient Mediterranean world. In addition, the position involves supervising year-long senior thesis projects.
