Assistant Professor in Comparative Politics

The Department of Political Science and the International Studies Program at Iowa State University invites applicants for a tenure track position at the rank of assistant professor in comparative politics, beginning August 16, 2014, with a focus on Asia generally and China in particular. The position is open to all conceptual themes and methodological approaches, but interest in interdisciplinary research or comparative public policy would be a plus. The successful candidate will be expected to teach and do research in comparative politics within Political Science and contribute to the International Studies Program within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences; publish in quality refereed outlets; pursue research grant and contracting funding opportunities; and provide institutional service. In addition, the successful applicant would be encouraged to collaborate with colleagues in History and the International Studies Program on research and teaching initiatives as a way to build an interdisciplinary team on Asia and China within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
Applicants must have a completed Ph.D. in Political Science by the appointment start date, and evidence of a scholarly record and successful teaching. (The candidate who accepts an offer while still ABD but fails to complete the Ph.D. by the required date will be hired and paid at the rank of lecturer.)
