The Department of History at the University of Maryland, College Park, invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor or tenured associate professor of African American history to begin in fall 2014. All specialties are welcome, but applicants should have a broad knowledge of African American history and be prepared to teach African American history prior to Reconstruction at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Applicants must have a doctoral degree in hand by August 1, 2014. In addition to a letter of application, applicants should provide a CV, a representative sample of their scholarship, and three letters of reference. Review of applications will begin upon receipt and continue until the position is filled; for best consideration, applications should reach the Department by December 2, 2013.
