The University of Dayton Department of History invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor specializing in Medieval European history (500CE-1450CE). Preference for candidates whose primary research focus is in science and technology, economics, or material culture. The position begins on August 16, 2014. We require a minimum ABD in history nearing completion and prefer a PhD in history or a closely related field in hand at the time of appointment. We also require the ability to teach HST 103 The West and the World (the Department’s introductory course in historical study required of all students at the University) in addition to upper-level history courses in area of specialty. Candidates must articulate an active research agenda with preference given to candidates who can demonstrate a record of scholarship. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience teaching undergraduates and working with students of diverse backgrounds.
