The Departments of Anthropology and East Asian Languages and Cultures at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign seek to hire a full-time scholar of contemporary China at the tenure-track assistant professor or tenured associate professor level whose work will contribute to the research and teaching missions of both departments. The ideal candidate will also be engaged in research and teaching that address scholarship across the social sciences and humanities.
A PhD is required at the time of the appointment. A successful candidate at the associate professor level will present an established record of scholarly publications, grants and awards, and demonstrated excellence in teaching and student mentoring. Evidence of an active research agenda and a strong commitment to innovative teaching is expected at the assistant professor level.
