The UNF History Department seeks to hire a tenure-track assistant professor in modern western European history, with an 18th-19th century focus. Teaching experience and evidence of potential for excellence in teaching and scholarship are required. The appointment begins in August 2014; only candidates with a PhD in hand by that date should apply.
The department will give preference to candidates who have a transnational or comparative perspective and who can offer courses on one or more of the following: French Revolution, European Empires, military history, and Mediterranean history. The successful candidate must also be willing to develop distance learning courses. Candidates will be expected to teach graduate courses, courses in the University's general education curriculum, and a historical methods course. Job candidates must also demonstrate an active research agenda and expect to serve on department and university committees.
