NYU ABU DHABI
NYU Abu Dhabi is currently inviting applications for a tenured or tenure-track appointment at any level (assistant, associate, or full professor) for its Ancient World Concentration. While the field of specialization is entirely open, we would expect the successful candidate to be someone whose teaching would encompass a broad perspective on the ancient world, and would be active in forging connections with colleagues in related disciplines. We would especially encourage applications from people whose interests include the Ancient Near East.
We are seeking candidates with an active research and publishing agenda, and a demonstrated commitment to undergraduate teaching. Please visit the NYUAD Arts & Humanities Division’s website for a description of its innovative curriculum and programs: http://nyuad.nyu.edu/academics/academic-divisions/arts-humanities.html
The terms of employment are competitive and include housing and educational subsidies for children. Members of NYU Abu Dhabi standing faculty receive generous support for research and travel. The teaching load is three undergraduate courses per year (semester system), including at least one in the core curriculum. Faculty may also spend time at NYU New York and other sites of the global network, engaging in both research and teaching opportunities. The appointment will begin as soon as September 1, 2014, with a later start date possible, pending candidate availability.
Applications are due by November 1, 2013, and will be reviewed until the position is filled. We hope to conduct preliminary interviews at the American Philological Association/Archaeological Institute of America Annual Meeting in Chicago on January 2-5: candidates should indicate in their application whether they expect to be present at that meeting. To be considered, candidates should submit a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, statements of research and teaching interests, a writing sample (ca. 20 pages),and three letters of reference, all i9n PDF format. Senior candidates are not required to submit references at this time. Please visit our website at http://nyuad.nyu.edu/about/careers/faculty-positions.html for instructions and other information on how to apply. Any inquiries about the position may be addressed to the Chair of the appointing committee, Professor David Levene (D.S.Levene@nyu.edu or +1-212-998-8598).
