Assistant Professor, Medieval History/Classics

The Department of History at the University of South Dakota invites applications at the rank of assistant professor, tenure track, for a position in Medieval History and Classics, with a preference for a Latinist. The successful candidate will be able to teach Latin, the survey courses in Western Civilization and World Civilization, and advanced undergraduate/graduate courses in area(s) of specialty (open). The Department is particularly interested in the secondary field of religious studies. There is the possibility of teaching in the University's Honors Program.
The Ph.D. is expected by the time of appointment. Candidates must provide evidence of teaching excellence as well as the potential for a vibrant research program. The Department offers the bachelor's and master's degrees in history.
