The Asian Studies Program at Randolph-Macon College invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in Chinese, beginning August 2014. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. by the time of appointment, and speak English and Mandarin Chinese with native or near-native fluency. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in teaching Chinese, plus the ability to teach in a secondary area such as literature, film, or culture (but not history).
Willingness to participate in, and eventually lead, January term travel courses to Asia is desirable. The successful candidate should recognize the importance of teaching in a small, collegial, liberal arts environment, and be willing to play a key role in the continued growth of the Asian Studies Program.
