GEORGETOWN UNIVERSITY, Theology Department, invites applications for a tenure track, assistant professor in American Religious and Philosophical Thought. The area of expertise is open, but preference will be given to applicants whose research engages the religious dimensions of contemporary American philosophy, particularly Pragmatism. In addition, special consideration will be given to applicants who can provide undergraduate course offerings in areas not yet covered by the department’s regular faculty (for example, science and religion). Starting date is August 2014. Candidates should be prepared to teach at all levels from introductory undergraduate courses to graduate seminars and to conduct and publish research. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the life of the university and of the department, which is large and collegial and committed to diverse approaches to the study of religion, and in the university’s interdisciplinary American Studies Program. Ph.D. is expected at the time of appointment. The deadline for applications is November 1, 2013.
