The Bielefeld Graduate School in History and Sociology (BGHS) – funded by the Excellence Initiative of the German federal and state governments – is a joint institution of the Department of History and the Faculty of Sociology at Bielefeld University (Germany). The Graduate School is a learning community of doctoral researchers and invites applications for
10 doctoral positions
with a maximum duration of 3.5 years,
starting 1 April 2014.
Description: We are seeking highly motivated researchers with genuine interest in an academic environment that fosters creativity through interdisciplinary exchange. Successful candidates are expected to conduct research within the doctoral programme, and in the end receive the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in history or sociology. The Graduate School promotes research in the fields of sociology, history, political science and social anthropology.
Qualifications: Applicants should hold a Master’s degree or equivalent in sociology, history, political science, social anthropology or gender studies, Inter-American Studies (IAS) or History, Philosophy and Sociology of Science (HPSS); applications from related disciplines are welcome.
