The Department of History at Purdue University invites applications for a tenure-track position as assistant professor in the history of Modern China since 1800. Field open. Ph.D. in History required by the time of appointment. The successful candidate will have a strong and demonstrable research agenda, ability to develop undergraduate and graduate courses, and contribute to the World history concentration in the graduate program. The ability to teach the introductory course in Modern China and the East Asia Survey is required. Publications and teaching experience are expected. The initial review of applications will begin on November 18, 2013, and will continue until the position is filled. Preliminary interviews will be held at the annual meeting of the American Historical Association in Washington DC, January 2-5, 2014.
