The Department of History at the University of the South invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in British history after c. 1500; the area of specialization is open. The appointment will begin in the fall semester 2014. A Ph.D. is required, and the degree must be completed by August 15, 2014.
The position includes a five-course teaching load and the expectation of commitment to excellence in teaching. The appointee will contribute to the college’s general education program, teach a British history survey as well as advanced courses in the field, and, as appropriate, participate in such interdisciplinary programs as Humanities, International and Global Studies, and Women’s and Gender Studies. In addition, the appointee will be expected to maintain an active and productive research program.
Review of applications will begin Nov. 1, and initial interviews will be conducted at the AHA convention.
