Japanese History Assistant Professor (Tenure –Track)

The Department of History at the University of Massachusetts Amherst invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in Japanese History from the nineteenth century to the present. We are particularly interested in applicants whose work addresses the social, cultural, or intellectual history of modern Japan, and candidates working in the area of Women’s History are especially encouraged to apply. The position will begin in September, 2014.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A PhD in hand in History or closely related field at the time of appointment is expected, though advanced PhD candidates with firm completion dates will also be considered.
Applicants should submit a letter detailing their research interests and qualifications along with a CV, sample syllabi, a short writing sample (article- or chapter-length) and three letters of reference by October 15, 2013, to receive full consideration.
