The Department of History at Salve Regina University invites applications and nominations for the John E. McGinty Chair in History, a visiting distinguished professorship. The search committee will begin reviewing application materials on September 15, 2013, for one-year positions to be held over the next several years. The first chair holder will serve during the 2014-2015 academic year.
Chair holders will be expected to have a Ph.D. in history with a distinguished record of scholarship and teaching; the field of expertise is open. We are interested especially in candidates with research that deals with Newport and/or Rhode Island.
The search committee seeks exceptional scholar-teachers wishing to share with our students their professional expertise and passion. The teaching load is limited, with one public lecture expected each semester.
Salary is commensurate with experience; additional funds available for chair-related expenses.
