The Department of Political Science at Vassar College invites applications for a tenure track position to teach Political Theory at the Assistant Professor rank beginning in the academic year 2014-15. Candidates should have completed or be nearing completion of a Ph.D. at the time of appointment. We are seeking to fill a position in political theory with an emphasis on gender. We invite applicants in political theory with a range of diverse substantive areas or approaches. The successful candidate will teach Introductory Political Theory, as well as an advanced course in and/or cross-listed in one or more of the following Multidisciplinary Programs: Women’s Studies, Environmental Studies, American Studies, or Media Studies. Teaching load is five courses (four preparations) per year.
Candidates should submit a complete dossier including a letter of application, a curriculum vitae, a graduate school transcript, at least three letters of recommendation, a sample of professional writing, a statement of teaching approach and interests, and evidence of teaching potential such as teaching evaluations and syllabuses.
