New College of Florida invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in American history (specialization open). PhD required by August 2014, when employment begins. Teaching experience and strong research profile expected. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a two-term sequence in the history of the United States, offer additional courses in his or her area of interest, sponsor tutorials, and supervise senior theses. New College, the nationally recognized honors college of the State University System of Florida, is a small, highly selective, innovative liberal arts institution. Students, with the help of faculty sponsors, plan their own academic programs through a series of semester contracts, and receive narrative evaluations in lieu of grades. Completion of a senior thesis is a graduation requirement.
