MISSISSIPPI STATE UNIVERSITY (MSU), College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) seeks candidates to fill the position of Associate Dean. CALS encompasses eight departments and one school: Agricultural Economics; Agricultural and Biological Engineering; Animal and Dairy Sciences; Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Entomology and Plant Pathology; Food Science, Nutrition and Health Promotion; Landscape Architecture; Plant and Soil Sciences; Poultry Science; and the School of Human Sciences. It offers diverse academic programs to more than 1,400 undergraduate students and nearly 400 graduate students. The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences is one of six major units of the Division of Agriculture, Forestry and Veterinary Medicine, including the Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station (MAFES), Mississippi State University Extension Service (MSU-ES), the College of Forest Resources (CFR), the Forest and Wildlife Research Center (FWRC), and the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM).
This position will assist the Dean of CALS in all areas pertaining to advancing the college’s academic mission. This is a non-tenured, administrative appointment; however, tenure will reside in an appropriate academic department within CALS. Candidates must hold a doctorate from an institution in agriculture, life sciences, or a closely related field and meet eligibility requirements for tenure at the full professor level and graduate faculty membership at MSU.
