JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY, BALTIMORE, MD Assistant Professor. As part of a new Islamic studies initiative across the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences, Johns Hopkins University invites applications for a newly established tenure-track assistant professorship in the History of the Islamic Middle East, 600–1517, beginning July 1, 2014. Evidence of scholarly excellence and knowledge of Arabic are required; ability to work in a second Middle Eastern language is desirable. Teaching duties will include an introductory course on the making of the Islamic Middle East and more specialized undergraduate and graduate courses of the candidate’s design. PhD is required by date of appointment.
