The Department of History and Geography at the University of Central Oklahoma invites applications for a visiting assistant professor in African American history. Secondary teaching areas that would be welcome include Early America, Atlantic World, African Diaspora, and U.S South.
Successful candidates will be expected to teach a 4:4 load at all levels of the undergraduate and graduate curriculum. The successful candidate’s courses will include graduate and upper-level in the field of specialization as well as the U.S. history survey course to 1877. Building on the strong student-oriented tradition of African American course offerings in the department, the successful candidate will be encouraged to develop interdisciplinary courses and collaborations with other programs on campus. The department and university emphasize excellence in teaching and scholarship. Ph.D. expected by time of employment.
