Non-Tenure Track -- Jewish Studies, Religion, Humanities
The Temple University Department of Religion, in conjunction with the Program in Jewish Studies and the College of Liberal Arts’ Intellectual Heritage Program, seeks to fill a non-tenure track appointment for the 2013-2014 academic year (with possible renewal) in the field of modern Jewish culture and history. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Modern Jewish thought and/or history, exhibit interest in issues of race, ethnicity, and Jewish diversity, and have a strong teaching record in either Religious Studies and/or the Humanities more broadly construed. The teaching load for the position is 3/4 during the academic year and will consist of two sections of “Jews and Race” and some combination of other modern Jewish studies and introductory humanities and religious studies courses. In addition to teaching, the successful applicant will serve as advisor for the undergraduate Jewish Studies majors, minors, and Secular Jewish Studies Certificate students.
