The Program in Jewish Studies at Rice University in Houston, Texas invites applications for The Stanford and Joan Alexander Postdoctoral Fellowship in Jewish Studies. The appointment will initially be for the academic year 2013/14, with possible renewal for 2014/15. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. by July 1, 2013 and must have received it no earlier than 2008. The appointee must provide documentation of the degree in the form of an official transcript or diploma before his/her first day of employment. Scholars from all fields of Jewish Studies will be considered. Applicants specializing in the ancient world, especially in archaeology, are particularly encouraged to apply.
The teaching load will be one course per semester. The fellow is also expected to contribute to the Program's community events by giving lectures and courses in Houston. This is a benefits-eligible position with an annual stipend of $40,000.
