Associate/Full Professor, Arabic and Islamic Philosophy

The Department of Philosophy at the American University of Beirut (AUB) invites applications from established scholars of prominent standing for a faculty position in Arabic and Islamic Philosophy to begin September 1, 2013. The appointment will be at the associate or full professor rank.

The successful candidate will be a PhD-holder with an active research agenda and an exceptional research and publications record in one or more subfields of the specialty.

The candidate will be expected to teach two undergraduate or graduate courses per semester and to supervise student research and master’s-level theses in philosophy and in the new interdisciplinary Islamic Studies program. The candidate will also be expected to make significant contributions to the newly established Islamic Studies program and to the Farouk K. Jabre Center for Arabic and Islamic Science and Philosophy. The language of instruction at AUB is English.
