Franklin & Marshall College seeks a dynamic leader to direct the Alice Drum Women's Center (ADWC) and teach courses in the Women's and Gender Studies Program (WGS). The Center advocates gender equality on campus and provides leadership training and student programming. The Director of the ADWC reports to the Chair of WGS and to the Office of the Provost. This is a full-time, continuing, administrative appointment that cannot lead to tenure.
In addition to directing the ADWC, the director will teach three courses in WGS per year and serve on the WGS committee. Training in women's and gender studies required. Preference to candidates who can teach courses in sexuality studies; science, medicine, technology and gender (including but not limited to environmental policy and disability); and psychology of gender. A PhD is strongly preferred, but ABD candidates will be considered. Teaching experience required. Academic rank will be Adjunct Assistant Professor of Women's and Gender Studies, with PhD, or Adjunct Instructor of Women's and Gender Studies, if ABD.
The administrative responsibilities of the director include:
Provide regular college-wide programming, often in cooperation with other departments or centers, to educate the campus about women's and gender issues
Select and oversee a student Executive Board, student workers and interns
Work with the Director of Health and Wellness Education/Sexual Misconduct Services to increase awareness of sexual assault on campus
Advise student subcommittees (Sexual Assault and Violence Education and VOX) and maintain relationships with other student organizations, such as LGBT & Allies.
Manage annual operating budget of the Center
Oversee maintenance of the physical condition of the Center
Plan leadership opportunities for students, including conferences and internships
