Assistant Professor in Medieval Mediterranean History

The History Department at the University of Massachusetts Boston is inviting applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor in Medieval Mediterranean History, from 600-1300 CE. The appointment will begin in either Spring or Fall 2014. We especially encourage applicants who work on comparative religion and study more than one area of the Mediterranean. Teaching responsibilities include introductory topical seminars, the first half of the World Civilization survey, and upper division and graduate courses in the candidate’s areas of specialization.
Minimum Qualifications: A doctoral degree is required and must have been awarded no later than December 2013. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to scholarship and to teaching excellence in an urban public university. Teaching experience preferred.
