The History Department of the University of Texas at Austin invites applications for an associate professor position in 19th century U.S. cultural history and the history and practices of history pedagogy in United States colleges and universities. This position will build on the department’s existing strengths in the history, theory, and implementation of innovative history teaching. Preference will be given to applicants with a record of research in history pedagogy. Applicants should have documented evidence of teaching excellence and a clearly defined research agenda related to history pedagogy in higher education.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses; develop a strong research program; direct graduate research; demonstrate evidence of successful and continuing subject area research productivity; exhibit a commitment to service to the department, college, and university; and participate in the curricular and programmatic activities of the department, the College of Liberal Arts, and the University of Texas.
