Western Washington University, in Bellingham, WA, invites applications for a full-year position in the Liberal Studies department as visiting instructor of South Asian studies, beginning on September 25, 2013.
The successful candidate will teach 7 courses: 3 sections of LBRL 271: Humanities of India; 3 sections of LBRL 378: Religion and Society of India; and one section of a 300-level course of your choice, with a cap of 25. (Sample syllabi are available upon request.)
Required: PhD or ABD, with training in social or cultural history of South Asia in any period, and ability to teach both introductory and upper division courses on South Asia.
Preferred: Previous classroom teaching experience; and a background in the study of religion and/or gender studies.
