The Communications Department at Molloy College on Long Island, New York seeks qualified candidates for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in New Media. The position begins Fall 2013.
The Department offers a B.A. in communications, with the choice of a concentration in either Media or Professional Communications. It also offers a major in New Media. Additionally, the Department teaches college-wide courses to satisfy general education requirements.
Teaching: 24 credits in an academic year. The applicant should be prepared to teach a variety of undergraduate courses in communications, specializing in new media studies and practice. Qualified applicants must show expertise in current theoretical developments and hands-on digital design. Specific courses include: Introduction to New Media, Online Content Production, Writing for the Web, Civic Engagement with New Media, History of Digital Media, Digital Applications for New Media, Online Journalism, Digital Public Relations, and Online Advertising.
Service: Academic advisement, participation in departmental activities, and willingness to serve on college-wide committees.
Scholarship: A commitment to on-going scholarship through publications and presentations at professional conferences.
