The Department of International Studies at the University of Oregon invites applications for temporary, part-time, limited-duration teaching positions with the possibility of renewal for up to three years depending on need, funding and performance. Applications will be accepted on a continuous basis, and the pool will remain active for one year. Screening of applicants will take place as early as December 1st for positions beginning spring term, and will continue as other positions become available. Minimum degree requirement of a Masters; Ph.D. preferred, in social sciences or related field. Current prioritized needs for spring term 2013 are: Global Media and Social Networking (new media tools -- e.g., Facebook, YouTube, Twitter – and their cross-cultural and local meanings, and their potential to affect social change), Gender and International Development and Development and Social Change in Southeast Asia. Additional courses for which we may have needs in 2013-14 include Comparative Tribalisms, Cross-Cultural Communication, Development and Social Change in Sub-Saharan Africa, Development and the Muslim World (discourses on development concerns in various Muslim majority countries), Globalization and the Global Economy, Indigenous Cultural Survival, International Community Development, Islam and Global Forces, Value Systems in Cross-Cultural Perspective, and distinctive courses that can contribute to our new concentration in Global Health and Development.
