FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY. The Department of Religious Studies is pleased to announce a search for an online digital instructor with a specialization in New Religious Movements. The successful candidate will demonstrate a broad knowledge of the field of Religious Studies and have a specialization in how new religions are forming or how new forms of older religions are developing in the age of globalization and the internet. The usual load for an instructor is four courses per semester. Ph.D. is preferred but not required. The successful candidate will be able to teach introduction to religion and world religions in addition to more specialized courses. The department, with twelve full time members, offers B.A. and M.A. degrees, and is located within FIU’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA).
This is a full-time teaching position with primary emphasis on online course development and online instruction. The instructor will also provide instruction and assistance to religious studies faculty with regard to digital instruction techniques, pedagogical construction of online courses, digital research methodologies, and serve as the liaison between the department and other units within the University regarding digital platforms and delivery of instruction methodologies.
