The Strategic and Defence Studies Centre (SDSC) is Australia's principal academic centre for studying and teaching strategy, security, defence and operational issues. Its research contributes to both academic and policy debates within the fields of Australian strategic, security and defence policy, Asia-Pacific and global strategic and security trends, and the conduct and history of military operations. We are have recently significantly expanded our research and teaching capacity. In addition to our well-established postgraduate coursework and PhD programs in Strategic Studies, SDSC has taken responsibility for a new academic program at the Australian Defence Force's Command and Staff College (ACSC), providing a high-quality curriculum leading to a Master of Military and Defence Studies.
We are seeking to appoint an outstanding scholar with particular research and teaching experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Theory and practice of air operations.
- Theory and practice of maritime operations.
- Contemporary military operations.
- Capability and force structuring issues.
The Lecturer/Senior Lecturer will play an integral role in delivering the education programs at the SDSC, in line with their respective qualifications. The appointee will contribute to the strategic goals of SDSC and the wider School of International, Political and Strategic Studies in providing world-class research, education and engagement in public and policy debates.
