POSITION: Assistant Professor of Social Studies Education. This position is a full-time tenure-stream position beginning August 2013.
DESCRIPTION: The Department of Instruction and Learning in the School of Education at the University of Pittsburgh seeks candidates to join a collaborative and accomplished faculty as Assistant Professor of Social Studies Education. Responsibilities include pursuing a productive research program, including seeking external funding and producing scholarly publications; teaching and advising in our post-baccheloreate teacher education and M.Ed. programs; teaching and advising in our Language, Literacy and Culture doctoral program; and collaborating with other faculty across the department, the School of Education, and the University.
QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates should have a doctoral degree in Social Studies Education or a related field; teaching experience in secondary schools; demonstrated excellence in university-level teaching; and evidence of potential for scholarly productivity. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research is related to urban education, English Language Learners, teacher education, educational technology, global studies, and history.
