The Department of Humanities and Cultural Studies at the University of South Florida invites applications for a Continuing Instructor to teach interdisciplinary classes on European visual, literary, musical and performing arts of the Renaissance and Baroque periods. Preference will be given to candidates whose work explores the relationships between texts' formal features and their social and cultural contexts. Teaching assignment is 4 courses (with 2-3 preps) per semester and includes interdisciplinary general-education classes (e.g., "Introduction to the Arts or a Renaissance-to-20th-Century survey") as well as upper-level undergraduate courses and, potentially, master's-level graduate courses in the candidate's area of specialization. Starting salary negotiable up to $45,000. Renewable 9-month contract begins August, 2013. Interdisciplinary Ph.D., or Ph.D. in a relevant discipline with demonstrable interdisciplinary qualifications, required by start date.
