Marywood University, a comprehensive Catholic University, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Asian/World History to begin August 2013. Ph.D. required by the time of appointment. Teaching responsibilities include introductory courses in nineteenth and twentieth-century world history and upper level specialty courses focusing on modern East Asia and/or South Asia. Thematic areas might include environmental history, gender history, the history of science, colonial and post-colonial interactions, the history of migrations and transnational diasporas or other areas of teaching and research that complement the existing offerings, student advising, commitment to scholarly activity, and university professional, and community service. Applicants must provide evidence of scholarly potential as well as commitment to and success in teaching. Preference will be given to persons who can bring diversity to our programs and University.
