The History Department of the University of Texas at Austin invites applications for a tenure-track position in African History. This is a new position that will complement our existing strengths in African history, African Diaspora, and the Atlantic World. Applications are especially welcomed from assistant professors who have one or more years of teaching experience and a book manuscript well in progress.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. for appointment as Assistant Professor or expect to obtain it within a year of joining the faculty as Instructor. Applicants should have documented evidence of, or potential for, teaching excellence, and a clearly defined research agenda. The selected candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, develop a strong research program, direct graduate research, produce demonstrated evidence of successful research productivity, and exhibit a commitment to service to the department, college, and university.
