History: East Tennessee State University (founded 1911), an institution located at the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountain and serving approximately 15,000 students, invites applications for Chair of the Department of History at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor to beginning July 1, 2013, for a recurring 12-month position, Ph.D. in History, field open. Evidence of strong administrative experiences required. Possible interviews at AHA. Positions contingent on funding. The Chair teaches three courses per year, maintains departmental staffing plan, oversees budget and hiring, conducts annual faculty and staff evaluations, administers course scheduling, performs other administrative functions, and maintains an active personal research agenda.
