The Department of History at Sam Houston State University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant or associate professorship in transnational/international migration history. We seek a U.S. historian specializing in such fields as immigration, ethnic identity, and citizenship. The appointment commences in August 2013. The successful candidate will teach freshman-level courses in U.S. history and upper-level and graduate courses in areas of specialization. A three-course assignment per semester constitutes the department’s standard teaching load. Preference will be given to applicants holding the Ph.D. at the time of appointment. The department values serious scholarly research and teaching excellence and rewards faculty members engaging in both.
